Rare birds stolen after Featherstone allotment break-in

Officers from the Normanton and Featherstone neighbourhood policing team (NPT) are appealing for witnesses to the theft which took place between Thursday, June 5 and Friday, June 6 on a plot at Green Lane Allotments.

Some of the birds stolen were a golden pheasant, a pair of red rumps similar to a parakeet and two pairs of Mandarin ducks.

A galah parrot and two karakikis were also stolen.

The thefts come after a galah cockatoo took a shine to Wakefield Golf Club last month.
