Suspected drug dealer Tasered in Wakefield city centre after driving at police officer and breaking his leg

A suspected drug dealer was Tasered in Wakefield city centre after he drove at an officer and hit him, breaking his leg.

The incident happened at around 11.45am on Monday, March 8, when officers stopped the vehicle on George Street, suspecting the driver was involved in supplying illegal substances.

The car struck the officer and caused the serious leg injury.

The Taser was then deployed and they were able to detain the driver.

He was arrested in suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and causing injury by dangerous driving.

He has also been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences along with two other males.

The police officer was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The roads around George Street were taped off yesterday afternoon as an investigation got underway.
