Teenage robbers tied up a pensioner in her own home before escaping with her cash.

The masked teens went into the house and threatened their 66-year-old victim before tying her hands and demanding money.

After taking an amount of cash they then stole the victim’s black Mercedes B Class car from outside her home on Barnsley Road, in Denby Dale.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in Shelley.

Earlier the robbers broke into the house next door.

They were disturbed when the homeowner returned but escaped with jewellery and a small amount of cash.

DC Richard Brooke of The Kirklees Robbery Team, said: “This was clearly a frightening incident for the victim who was unhurt but understandably distressed.

“We are linking the two crimes and would appeal for anyone who has information or knows who may be responsible to contact us.

“Similarly anyone who saw two men abandoning the victim’s black Mercedes in Back Lane in Shelley is urged to get in touch.”

The robbers were about 5ft 8ins tall and thin. They were both wearing dark coloured hooded tops with the hoods up and scarves covering their faces.

Both spoke with local accents.

The incidents took place on Wednesday evening.
