A police worker who helped bring about a reduction in crime in Pontefract town centre has been thanked for her hard work.
Police Community Support Officer Rebecca Norbury ran a shopwatch scheme which helped business being blighted by shoplifting overcome the problem.
After ten years as a PCSO she has moved on to become a full police officer.
PCSO Norbury was presented with flowers and champagne by grateful shop owners.
Karen Long, assistant manager for Peter Jones China, on Salter Row, said: “It was to thank her for her fantastic work.
“She’s helped reduce crime and we know always there to help us out.
“She is going to be greatly missed.”
Insp Paul Sullivan added: “She developed some really good relationships with business owners, residents and visitors to the town centre.
“As a result of her work targeting shoplifting and anti-social behaviour it’s a safer place and a more attractive place for people to come.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Rebecca for her service and wish her the best as she takes on her new role as a police constable in Wakefield.”
