Thieves target sleeping drivers at Castleford truckstop

Parked-up trucks were hit by thieves in Castleford as the drivers slept in their cabs.

The thieves cut holes in curtain-sided lorries to take items between 1.30am and 2am on Friday, August 28.

All of the HGVs were parked at the Whitwood Truckstop on California Drive at the time.

Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity is being asked to call police on 101, quoting crime reference 13200432602.

Appealing for information, a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Whitwood Truck Stop, California Drive, Castleford have reported a number of attempt thefts from lorry’s that have been parked up at their premises overnight.

"These were all curtain side lorry’s where the suspects have cut a section of the curtain side in order to check what products are within the trailer.

"These crimes occurred between 01:30 and 02:00 this morning when the drivers were asleep in their cabs.
