Two hospitalised and two arrested after car comes off road into field in Wakefield

Two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after the car they were travelling in came off the road into a field in Lofthouse.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which took place close to the A61 Lofthouse junction, at around 10.10pm on Sunday, January 17.

A black Vauxhall Zafira with four occupants was travelling west along Jumbles Lane, Lofthouse, when it came off the road into a field.

Photos shared on social media appear to show the vehicle on its side in the field.

Emergency services attended, and two occupants were taken to Leeds General Infirmary. Their injuries are described as serious, but not life threatening.

Two men, aged 24 and 25, have been arrested on suspicious of dangerous driving and driving over the prescribed limit.

Enquiries are still ongoing, police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, saw the car immediately prior to the incident or has dashcam footage to get in touch.
