Two men killed after car overturns in Oulton

Two men were killed when the car they were travelling in overturned and ended up in a field.

The driver lost control of a black Renault Clio on Methley Lane, Oulton, just before 9.30pm on Sunday night.

Police said the car overturned a number of times before hitting a lamppost and ending up in a field.

The 24-year-old driver, and his 25-year-old back seat passenger, who were both from Rothwell, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 29-year-old man, who had been a front seat passenger, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary suffering with slight injuries.

Detective Constable Jenny Stanley, of West Yorkshire Police Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have seen the vehicle in the time leading up to it. We would also like to hear from anyone who may have had contact with the occupants of the vehicle on Sunday evening prior to the collision.”
