UPDATE: Investigations continuing into Wakefield city centre suspicious death

Mystery still surrounds the death of a man who was found unconscious in Wakefield city centre.

Darren Ronald Watson, 47, from Darnley, was found with head injuries in White Horse Yard at 9.23pm on Thursday, October 2 but died a short time later.

And detectives are still trying to establish how he died.

Det Chf Insp Elizabeth Belton, from West Yorkshire Police’s Protective Services (Crime) department, said: “A post mortem has been carried out into Mr Watson’s death and further tests will now be carried out.

“I would appeal to any witnesses or anyone with information about to contact police on 101.”

A 53-year old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail.
