UPDATE: Police raid 90 homes in biggest drugs operation this decade

Police have raided almost 90 homes during the biggest drugs operation in Wakefield this decade.

So far more than 40 people have been arrested and thousands of pounds of drugs have been recovered from 87 homes across the district.
The operation has been launched to target street level drug dealers and their suppliers.

Detective Inspector Steve Greenbank of Wakefield District CID, said; “This has been one of the largest operations carried out in Wakefield District in a number of years and has seen us make 43 arrests so far targeting suspected street level dealers and their suppliers.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing and our raids this week have already uncovered new information and intelligence which we will be working with.

“I can promise residents they will see more investigations in the weeks to come.”
