UPDATED: Underwater search to resume for missing Knottingley man

An underwater search for a missing Knottingley man will resume in the morning.

Divers have called off the search for Gary Stephen after a day of scouring the Knottingley and Goole canal.

West Yorkshire Police’s Underwater Search Unit will continue its search tomorrow for the missing 29-year-old, who has not been seen since December 4.

A force spokesman said the team is likely to expand its search area when investigators return to the site.

Mr Stephen was last seen leaving the Steam Packet pub, on Racca Green, at 8.45pm after socialising with friends at pubs around the town.

Police say they are becoming increasingly concerned and are urging anyone who sees him to contact officers.

Mr Stephen is described as around six feet tall and of slim build.

He was last seen wearing a dark grey jacket with green piping around the hood, a heavy rollneck jumper, blue jeans and white trainers with a tick on them.
