Warning as bogus energy workers target Wakefield district's elderly

Bogus officials have been targeting the district, pretending to be from energy companies to gain access to pensioners' homes.

Suspicious males attended an address on Bradford Road, Wakefield, on October 28 stating they were from Yorkshire Water.

Whilst checking the water supply with the occupier a second male has gone into the address and stolen money from inside.

Then on November 2, suspicious males knocked on a house on Mount Pleasant Street, Featherstone, pretending to be from Shell Energy.

When challenged in relation to their ID cards, the suspects became aggressive. The occupier managed to close the door and call the police.
