Thousands of movie fans are expected to flock to Castleford next month as turbo charged film car convention Knightcon revs back into town.
The Xscape leisure complex in Glass Houghton will play host to a convoy of classic and cult movie cars on September 7.
Last year’s glitzy event saw more than 24,000 flock to catch a glimpse of cars from the big screen including the largest number of replica KITT cars from hit 80s show Knight Rider.
This year’s line up will see Transformers’ Optimus Prime rev into town along with a 30ft tall marshmallow man from the film Ghostbusters.
Dan Wharton, marketing manager for Xscape, said: “We’re all very excited for Knightcon. We always secure cars and stars you just won’t see anywhere else.
“This year we have some huge surprises for the public on the day so we would urge everyone to bring their camera.”
Steve Fawcett and Rob Ormandroyd set up Knightcon in 2011 for owners of Trans Am cars to catch a glimpse of KITT replicas from the television show Knightrider.
More than 27,000 people turned out two years ago when Knightrider star David Hasselhoff made a surprise appearance.
The Hoff, who was also a judge on talent show Britain’s Got Talent, was joined at the Glass Houghton complex by co-stars Rebecca Holden, who played April the mechanic, and Peter Parros, who starred as RC3.
Thousands of movie fans will also be in fancy dress, including people dressed as characters from the Star Wars movies.
The event is free to attend and runs from 11am to 6pm.
