Cyclist, 52, left in 'critical' condition after road incident

Police are appealing for witnesses to a road incident in Wakefield that left a 52-year-old cyclist in a critical condition.

The Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Team would like to speak to anyone who has information about an incident which took place at around 5pm on Spring End Road, in Horbury, near to Springfield Mill Business Park on Friday, April 22.

The cyclist was travelling along Spring End Road, from Ossett to Horbury, when “he fell from his bike and suffered serious injury” according to police.

The man, 52, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary and was in a critical condition.

PC Alan Wilson of Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Team, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this incident and anyone who was in the area at the time to contact myself at the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support Team on 101 quoting reference 1286 of 22 April.”

An update on the man’s condition will come as soon as possible.
