Cyclists stop near art gallery

The Wildgoose Fine Art Gallery in Fairburn spotted part of the Tour de France Team America flying through the village last Thursday.

The cyclists paused outside the gallery to admire a painting of comedy duo Laurel and Hardy and posed for a photograph with their £12,000 BMC bikes.

En route to Oulton Hall in Leeds, where the team were staying for both stages of Le Tour at the weekend, the cyclists studied the ‘Grand Depart’-themed window display and are pictured here with a specially commissioned painting of Stage 1, held by gallery manager Diane Wright.

She said: “What are the odds of Team America stopping to admire two of our window displays, one featuring TdF Yorkshire Stage 1 and 2?

“About as long as the odds of finding a long lost dodo on Fairburn Ings Bird Reserve!”
