Cyclists take to the saddle for Upton road race

Cyclists raced through the streets of Upton last weekend for the last road race of the year.

Members of Upton Cycling Club - which organised the event - were joined by bikers from clubs across the region.

The race was won by Charlie Renshaw, from the Bike Box Alan/Envelopemaster Team, with Cory Ashley, from Beeston RC, taking second place and Kris Zentek, from Team Chronomaster, in third.

The event was organised following the success of a previous road race in July.
Andy Tune, event organiser, said: “Both Upton road races have been very popular this year and well attended from riders far and wide - one man travelled from the Isle of White to take part.

Due to the popularity, we are considering hosting a ladies only race next year as well as more men’s races.”

Upton Cycling Club, which is affiliated with British Cycling, will host its last cycle of the year on Sunday, October 18. The event will be a hill climb at Wentbridge. Cyclists can sign on from 8.30am, with the event starting at 10am.
