A man has appeared in court charged with murdering his partner and young daughter more than a year ago.
John Miller was arrested over the deaths of Sarah Laycock, 31, who was a deputy headteacher at Wheldon Infant School in Castleford, and eight-year-old Abigail Miller in Garforth in January last year.
They had both been stabbed and Miss Laycock had also suffered axe wounds.
Miller, of Kirkby Avenue, Garforth, appeared via video link for a preliminary hearing at Leeds Crown Court today (Friday).
He spoke only to confirm his name during the brief hearing.
He will next appear at Leeds Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on June 28 and a provisional trial date has been set for September.
