‘Dad’s care was excellent’

I FEEL that I need to write and let people know about the excellent care my 84-year-old father received recently at Dewsbury District Hospital.

Initially when my father was sent there for treatment because of bed shortages at both Pontefract and Pinderfields, we were filled with a sense of disappointment due to the distance involved. However our fears were allayed by the care he received while there.

Over several weeks dad paid several visits to the hospital for treatment. On each occasion he was treated with great care by the staff in the medical assessment unit and those on ward 4. The compassion shown especially by Dr Craig and the nursing staff on ward 4 was exemplary. Unfortunately my father lost his fight against cancer and died peacefully at the hospital, but throughout his last few days there, he was treated with dignity and respect, which eased the trauma of such a difficult time for all of us, not least my father.

Thank you Dewsbury Hospital for all you did for my father.
