Our Wakey Up Your Wardrobe winner did just that when she fostered her son Anthony when he was just six – one of the many reasons he nominated her as a worthy winner in this month’s competition.

His emotional nomination set out how Lynn Barlow had such a profound impact on his life and that if anyone deserved to win £250 to spend at Trinity Walk with their own stylist too, then it was her.

The 58-year-old, of South Kirkby, was in good hands thanks to the centre’s stylist, Liz Clothier, who gave her some inspiration and a guided day of shopping at the centre’s huge range of stores.

After coffee at Costa, they set out shopping and before lunch already had their hands full with bags. A break was needed and Handmade Burger Company was only too happy to oblige as they served up a special lunch.

More shopping followed before a trip to Room 97 Creative Hairdressing where the team gave her a fantastic new style.

A final spree saw Lynn complete her shopping which saw her purchase a selection of tops, a shawl and Estee Lauder makeup from Debenhams, tan bag and tan Chelsea boots from Next plus a top and cardigan from Asda Living.

The day was completed with a makeover at Debenhams’ Estée Lauder counter where Gill put the finishing touches to what Lynn described as a day she’d never forget. It was fabulous because I’ve been pampered and I’m not used to it,” she said.

“I think I’d have to say my favourite parts of the day included lunch at Handmade Burger Company, which was extra special as my son Anthony who nominated me joined us and I didn’t have to cook for once. Having my hair done at Room 97 and the money to spend on myself was brilliant too.

“My favourite purchase was the boots from Next and I’ve got to say Liz was brilliant, I really enjoyed her company and appreciated her knowledge when it comes to styling.”

Lynn’s advice is clear to anyone not sure whether to enter this amazing monthly competition run by Trinity Walk and the Express.

She said: “I’d say do it now, because it’s such a memorable experience – just go for it.

“I come shopping to Trinity Walk quite a lot and like it because everything’s close together and covered, so it’s ideal.”
