Directors appointed at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust

A CRISIS-hit hospitals trust has appointed three non-executive directors to its board following a mass resignation.

Pat Garbutt, Trevor Lake and Rosie Valerio have joined Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust, it was announced today (Friday).

Their appointment follows the resignations of Anita Fatchett, David Longstaff, Margaret Faull and Iain Wilkinson on July 3.

They left amid a deepening financial crisis at the trust, which runs Pinderfields, Dewsbury and Pontefract hospitals.

Mid Yorkshire is expected to be £26m in deficit at the end of the year and has missed targets to become a Foundation Trust - an elite status the government is forcing all hospital trusts to achieve or face major reorganisation.

David Stone, the trust’s interim chairman, said Mid Yorkshire was looking to appoint two more non-executives later in the year.

He said: “We’re delighted to welcome these three new non-executive members to our board.

“They bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience which will be invaluable to us as we tackle our financial and service challenges.”
