District to pay its last respects to historian Kate Taylor

City historian Kate Taylor will be laid to rest next Friday.

The author and researcher died aged 81 at home in Pinders Grove on May 5.

Miss Taylor’s funeral will take place at 12.30pm on June 5 at Westgate Unitarian Chapel.

The service will be followed by interment at Sugar Lane Cemetery and refreshments at Create Cafe in Wakefield One on Burton Street.

A spokesman for Miss Taylor’s family said: “Kate was an eminent local historian and author and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

“She was the beloved mother of Simon Jenkins and his wife Carole, Nanna to Barnaby, sister to Enid and James Barron, Aunt to John, Emma and husband Cornelius Clarke, and great Aunt to Caitlin, Tara, and Niamh.

“The family are greatly consoled by the number of people who have expressed a wish to join us on the 5th, and really, the more the merrier is the message.”
