Driver has lucky escape after HGV crashes into his van

A van driver had a lucky escape after his vehicle was struck by a HGV.

Fire crews from Wakefield, Ossett and Dewsbury were called to the M1, between junction 40 (Ossett) and junction 41 (Carr Gate) at around 10.10pm last night (Monday) to reports of a collision.

It was thought a heavy rescue unit would have to be used at the scene, but the 52-year-old driver of the van managed to get out of his vehicle before emergency services arrived.
