Andrew Hinchcliff has dressed as a dinosaur, gorilla and as Pudsey Bear throughout the week to raise money for disadvantaged children across the country.

The 36-year-old said some of his students were shocked when they spotted him wearing the colourful outfits.

Mr Hinchcliff, of Eggborough, said: “I had pre-warned some of them but I had one new starter who had no idea.

“I wanted to get involved in fundraising for Children in Need and asked my students and colleagues to sponsor me.

People who know me expect me to do something like this for charity but other people must be thinking what is this guy doing dressed in a onesie?”

Mr Hinchcliff, chairman of the Pontefract Drivers Instructors Association, decided to dress up in various onesies throughout the week after spotting the outfits on sale in ASDA.

He has been wearing a different one each day, while teaching his students to drive around Pontefract, Ackworth, Kellingley, Knottingley, Eggborough and Selby.

Several of Mr Hinchcliff’s students also wore their onesies, including Victoria Atkinson who dressed up in a hippopotamus outfit for her driving lesson in Pontefract.

Mr Hinchcliff said: “It is a bit of fun and if I raise £150 I’ll be happy. At the end of the day it is for a really good cause.”

In 2011, Mr Hinchcliff recreated rock band Queen’s music video ‘I want to break free’ at the test centre in Pontefract. He dressed as singer Freddy Mercury and lip-synced the song along with friends.

The video was uploaded onto Youtube and they raised more than £1,300 for Children in Need.
