Around 600 children from schools in the Waterton Academy Trust came together for a celebration of sport at Sharlston Community School.

Organiser Steve Biltcliffe, from Wakefield School Sports Network, said: “There was a great sense of teamwork with everybody from teachers, CEOs, support staff, sports coaches, sports leaders, and Year 5 and 6 pupils from Sharlston coming together to create an amazing day.

“There was a real community to feel to the day and everyone – pupils, staff, parents – left with a smile on their faces.”

Dave Dickinson, chief executive of Waterton Academy Trust, said: “Days like this show the wonderful benefits of working in close collaboration with such a cracking group of schools.
