There were some impressive sights at Greenhill Primary School in Eastmoor as pupils showed off their knowledge of explorers and adventurers.

Children dressed up for the day as their adventurous heroes after learning all about them in class.

There was Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Megallan who organised the Spanish expedition to the East Indies in 1519, Vasco da Gama, the first Count of Vidigueira and a Portuguese explorer who was the first European to reach India by sea, Amelia Mary Earhart, the American aviation pioneer and author.

Henry Hudson, an English sea explorer and navigator during the early 17th century, Jeanne Baret, a member of Louis Antoine de Bougainville’s expedition and the first woman to have completed a voyage of circumnavigation of the globe, Sacagawea, a Lemhi Shoshone woman who is known for her help to the Lewis and Clark Expedition in achieving their chartered mission objectives by exploring the Louisiana Territory, David Livingstone, the Scottish pioneer medical missionary and explorer in Africa and Daniel Boone, the American pioneer, explorer, woodsman, and frontiersman.
