Election 2018: UK Independence Party (UKIP)

Standing in: 3 seats '“ Stanley and Outwood East, Wakefield North, Wrenthorpe and Outwood West.

Pitch: The first phase of UKIP’s mission was fulfilled on June 23, 2016. During the second, we are acting as the custodians of a pure Brexit – which is being betrayed. In the third, after we leave the EU, we will carry on advocating the policies which will make a success of our regained independence.

In the council, it is usually only UKIP councillors who challenge the ruling Labour group policies.

We have opposed the outsourcing of council services to Engie, attacked the salaries for the new chief executive  and chief financial officer, and criticised the composition of the Independent Remuneration Panel which contains no member on an “average” salary or union representation.

We have queried – and stopped – the use of £50,000 of public money to pay creditors of a private company.

If elected, UKIP candidates will judge each issue on its merits, and without a party whip are free to support the views of local residents.
