Decision to be made on Knottingley masterplan

Senior Wakefield councillors will be asked to give the green light to the Knottingley and Ferrybridge Masterplan for the next 20 years.

Cabinet members will discuss proposals that set out a vision to revitalise and diversify the town centre, as well as providing a blueprint for residential and business land.

The plan would include A new link road would join Pontefract Road and junction 33 of the M62 to the west of Knottingley and a loop south of Knottingley to join the A645 to the east of the town.

Renovations at Kellingley Club will start in early 2021 to develop a community hub as part of the masterplan proposals.

Coun Darren Byford, cabinet member for economic growth, said: This Masterplan for the Knottingley area provides a positive focus for future growth and development and improvements to employment opportunities.”
