Warning: Yorkshire braced for Friday snowfall

The Met Office has issued a weather warning in Yorkshire as snow is set to take over the region on Friday (April 29), the first day of the Tour de Yorkshire.

It may nearly be May, but experts are anticipating snowfall this Bank Holiday weekend, as a ‘yellow’ warning has been issued for Yorkshire as an area of rain, sleet and snow is due on Thursday evening, lasting until Friday.

He said: “A depression moving eastwards across northern parts of Northern England on Thursday evening will bring cold air in its wake, causing showery outbreaks of rain to turn to snow, principally on hills but also to low levels at times.

“Please be aware of the risk of difficult driving conditions and disruption to transport.”
