Explore works of Chippendale

National Trust Nostell is launching a programme of events to celebrate the life and works of influential designer Thomas Chippendale.

Visitors will be able to view the Chippendale collection and find out more about the man behind the brand.

Chippendale supplied more than 100 items for the Winn family of Nostell, many of which are documented within a archive of Chippendale’s letters, invoices and drawings.

The programme will start on May 2 with Chippendale: the Man and the Brand, a new exhibition unravelling the story of Thomas Chippendale, his special connection to Nostell and the legacy he left behind. Visitors will see his correspondence on display alongside key collection pieces and tools. A new series of creative workshops entitled Dovetail, Biscuit, Splat will also launch in May for families to make their own masterpieces inspired by the designer. The programme is part of Chippendale 300, a nationwide celebration to mark 300 years since his birth in June 1718. Visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/nostell for more information.
