The raunchy novel captured the imagination of millions.

Now, the hotly anticipated adaptation of E L James’ bestselling erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey is tipped to get crowds of cinema-goers hot under the collar when it is released today (Friday).

And staff at Cineworld in Wakefield and Castleford, are gearing up for a busy weekend as showings keep selling out.

A spokesperson at Xscape Cineworld said: “Thousands of people have pre-booked tickets for the film.

“We have been taking bookings for the last eight weeks and many of our evening showings especially tonight are either sold out or almost full.”

Exploring the passionate love affair between entrepreneur Christian Grey and naive student Anastasia Steele, the film is expected to be a risque romp through the dark world Mr Grey keeps hidden from public view.
