Film to tell stories of survival during strike

Former miners, their families and people who were involved in the Women Against Pit Closures movement are invited to get in touch with the makers of the film.

It will be screened in March next year at an event in Wakefield to mark 30 years since the end of the year-long dispute.

The day-long festival will be held at Unity Hall, a historic building on Westgate in the city which stood derelict but has been brought back into use as an arts venue.

The event, called With Banners Held High, will be held on March 7.

It is supported by organisations including the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign.

The campaign is calling for an inquiry into the policing of a mass picket near Rotherham during the strike.
