Coun David Dagger, the council’s cabinet member for transport and highways, said: “After reviewing our plans of work for the Town End junction, works are now due to start in December.

“We apologise for the slight delay in the resurfacing work but our priority remains to ensure that the work is carried out with the minimum of disruption to residents, business and motorists,” said Coun Dagger.

“The very nature of resurfacing work means that road closures will be inevitable but we have instructed the contractor to work during the evenings so that the disruption is reduced.

“Although this means the resurfacing will be done over a longer period it will protect motorists from lengthy delays during peak times and help us be a good neighbour to local business and residents.”

The resurfacing works will be carried out between 6pm and 11pm on weekdays and on Sundays, where necessary, to reduce congestion.

There will be a number of road closures in place while the work is carried out.

Coun Dagger added: “We are now at the final stage and I would like to thank everyone for their patience. We will be closely monitoring progress.”
