The Pontefract Race for Life, African drumming at Wakefield Cathedral and sculpture making workshops are just a few of the activities going on across the Wakefield district this weekend. See below for a full round-up.

Friday:

- Bruce Ncube from Zimbabwe will run an African drumming session at Wakefield Cathedral at 7pm. A dancing workshop will also take place at 4pm tomorrow. Sessions cost £5.

Saturday:

- There will be a display of watercolour and acrylic paintings by Eddie Andrassy at The Orangery, Back Lane, Wakefield, throughout the weekend.

- Jane Austen’s moving love story, Pride and Prejudice, will be performed at Sandal Castle. The play will be acted out by Heartbreak Productions at 7pm. For more details see www.wakefield.gov.uk/castles

- The Hepworth Wakefield is running sculpture-making workshops from 11am until 4pm this weekend. Drop in to make gigantic sculptures using plaster, wire and willow.

- Annie is being performed at Ossett Town Hall at 2pm and at 7pm.

Sunday:

- Hundreds of women will walk, jog and run their way round Pontefract Racecourse as part of the Race for Life. More than 1,000 women have signed up for the 5k and 10k events to raise funds for Cancer Research UK from 10.30am.

- A family fun day is taking place at Lightwaves Leisure and Community Centre. The event runs from 9am to 2pm and all activities cost £1 per person.
