Fire crews rush to blaze at Castleford property

Fire crews were rushed to a blaze at a building in Castleford this morning.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they had been called at 6.49am to a fire on Eastfield Lane, Castleford.

Crews from Castleford, Normanton and Pontefract were called to tackle the blaze, which is believed to have been started by a drying or roasting device inside the building.

Breathing apparatus, hose reels and a high power fan were used to clear smoke from the building, which measured around 30 by 20 metres.

It is not believed that anyone was injured in the fire.

The full fire service statement reads: "Fire involving a Drying/Roasting machine in a building measuring 30 metres x 20 metres, crews have used 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reels and a high powered fan to clear smoke from the building.

"Appliances from Castleford, Normanton and Pontefract have attended."
