Fire crews assisted the ambulance service at the scene, but did not need to cut any passengers from the cars.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said rainy conditions may have played a part in the collision.

The women were taken to Pinderfields Hospital and the road was closed for around 25 minutes.

Fire crews left at around 11.25am.
