Five reasons why Castleford is not the "worst place to live"

People have been defending Castleford and Wakefield and a report ranked the district the worst place to live in the country.

The report by accountancy firm PwC and thinktank Demos was rubbished by Express readers who told us why they love living here.

Now here's five reasons why Castleford is a great place to live:

Five Towns Park

Developer Lateral Property Group was also granted consent for the £135m Five Towns Park - which will include a new stadium for Castleford Tigers, a retail park and a food store - earlier this year.

Henry Moore

Sculptor and artist best know for his semi-abstract bronze works, which are located around the world. The son of a coal miner, Moore was born in Castleford in 1898.

Castleford Tigers

Top-tier super league club

Cinema, bowling, restaurants, shopping and a surf simulator are on offer at the leisure complex in Glasshoughton.

...and our mining heritage

The district's collieries and a year-long strike in 1984-5 against pit closures are proudly remembered.
