Flash flooding hits Five Towns district

Xscape entertainment complex, Castleford town centre, Pontefract’s Prince of Wales Hospice and Castleford Tigers Mend-a-hose Jungle have all been affected.

Flooding has hit kitchen services at the hospice and bosses at the care centre are calling on the community to help.

A Wakefield council spokesman said emergency shelters had been set up and Denby Dale Rd, Wakefield, Commonside Road, Featherstone, Stranglands Lane, Knottingley and Cavendish Avenue, Pontefract and Bondgate, Pontefract have all been closed due to surface water.
