People in Knottingley are being invited to get food smart with a series of roadshows in the town next week.
The community food and health team, which is provided by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, is holding three events as part of a bid to raise awareness of the health benefits of eating a balanced diet.
The events take place from 10am to 2pm each day, and the team will be at Warwick Community Centre on Tuesday July 23, Cobblers Gala on Wednesday July 24 and the Old Quarry Adventure Playground on Thursday July 25.
They are part of the Be Food Smart Summer Roadshow, where members of the team will hold cooking demonstrations and handing out goodies, with everyone receiving a Change 4 Life meal mixer cook book and the team will be demonstrating health recipes.
Other services will be on hand, including the Wakefield Change 4 Life team to introduce a new Get Going This Summer campaign, along with health trainers, the expert patient programme and Wakefield and District Housing.
Bev Juniper, team leader of the community food and health team, said: “All the roadshow sessions are free and will demonstrate how easy it is to make healthy food choices and cook delicious meals.
“We hope they encourage and support anyone who needs inspiration to get cooking or who would like to try making some healthy changes to boost their lifestyle.”
