An old working men’s club in Wakefield is to be demolished to make way for a new street of housing.
Wakefield Council’s planning department gave approval this week for the old Lupset Working Men’s Club at 254 Horbury Road to be demolished, along with a detached dwelling - the former steward’s accommodation - on the 0.5 hectare site and build 19 new homes.
Although once a working men’s club, the site has more recently been used by a second-hand car sales business.
The application was submitted by VT Ventures based in Middlestown and preliminary plans show all but one of the proposed houses will have three bedrooms, with one having just two bedrooms. Up to 41 parking off-street spaces will be provided, with all houses having two spaces each.
Plans show one exit from the street onto Horbury Road.
