Fun and fireworks at Thornes Park for Bonfire Night

Fireworks will light up the sky during the city’s annual bonfire celebration at Thornes Park.

Thousands of visitors are expected to attend the display at the park on Saturday November 7.

It is being organised by Wakefield Council and the event starts at 6pm.

The bonfire will be lit at 7pm, followed by a firework display at 8pm.

Coun Les Shaw, cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport, said: “Thornes Bonfire is always popular and a great night out for everyone.

“I’m sure the display will be as spectacular and as impressive as previous years have been. I hope everyone who joins us has a great time and most importantly stays safe.”

There will also be a competition for the best Guy Fawkes on stage at 7.30pm with prizes for successful entries.

No parking will be available at either Thornes Park Stadium or at Wakefield College during the bonfire event.
