The Highways Agency are carrying out the scheme to upgrade the carriageway to a ‘managed motorway.’

The works, which is due to be completed by September next year, will see hard shoulders become permanent lanes in both directions, between junction 39 at Durkar and junction 42 at Lofthouse, with the aim of increasing capactity and easing congestion.

There will also be overnight slip road closures as part of the works.

The northbound entry slip road and southbound exit slip road at junction 41 at Carr Gate will be closed overnight on Friday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

All closures will be in place from 8pm to 6am.
