Gatekeepers Paranormal spent two days at 30 East Drive in Pontefract, the property which is said to be the haunting ground of the Blank Monk who was hanged 500 years ago for the rape and murder of a young girl.

The house made headlines around the world in the 1960s when a supposed poltergeist tormented the family living there, which was eventually turned into a horror film in 2012 - When the Lights Went Out.

Armed with the latest spook-detecting equipment, Gatekeepers Paranormal said they picked up signs of the afterlife, particularly in the dead of night.

Leading the investigation, Rob Pyke, said in separate incidents, two upstairs bedroom doors opened of their own accord with no plausible explanation, while camera footage taken from a bedroom appeared to shake violently while it was recording.

A K2 meter, which picks up electro magnetic energy, also began to detect signs, while footsteps were clearly heard from upstairs while all investigators were on the ground floor.

Rob said: “It was my seventh time at the property, and once again, it has raised more questions than what we have answers for, which is always the sign of a good investigation, where you are unable to explain what has been heard, felt, experienced or even smelled.

“I’d by lying if I said I don’t get scared - I think we are all afraid in some way or another of the unknown, which I suppose is the reason why I continue.”
