KNIGHT Rider enthusiasts from across the world are KITTing up for a TV and movie car extravaganza at Xscape.

Fans of the cult 1980s show from as far away as America will descend on the Glass Houghton leisure complex for Knightcon on Saturday October 1.

The star-studded convention has been organised by friends Steve Fawcett, 29, and Rob Ormondroyd, 39, who both own replica KITT cars.

Steve, of Leeds, said: “The first Knightcon was ten cars in a car park but has grown to be a world-renowned event.”

Special guests at the free event – from 10.30am until 6pm – will include the A-Team’s Faceman Dirk Benedict, Rebecca Holden, who played KITT’s mechanic in season two of the show, and Peter Parros, who played RC3 in season four.

The show will also feature other film and TV cars including a 20ft Batmobile, Bumblebee from Transformers and a Ghostbusters car.

Rob, 39, added: “Knightcon is intrinsically linked with childhood. When Knight Rider was on it was coolest show on TV.

“The display is going to be superb – as well as the cars, we’ll have Hollywood sets, a Dr Who Tardis and people dressed up as Star Wars characters. Castleford has never seen anything like it.”
