A pie-eating competition will be the main attraction at the annual Festival at the Farm event in Purston this weekend.

The free event takes place at Farmer Copley’s, on Pontefract Road, on Sunday from 11am to 4pm.

There will be a large craft tent, a food tent, dance performances, drill displays by local air cadets and bird displays from KL Falconry.

Visitors can also pick their own strawberries and grow their own sunflowers.

Stalls at the event will include crafts and local produce.

The pie-eating contest will take place from 3.30pm but people need to sign up by 1.30pm.

Last year’s event saw more than 8,000 people flock to the farm.

Matthew Collinson was crowned king of the pie eaters.

There were also produce competitions and the Axe Games, which included welly wanging, won by Ian Anderson with a distance of 34.7m.
