She will have reigned for 63 years, seven months and three days, overtaking the previous record by her great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria.

On February 6, 1952, Princess Elizabeth received news of her father’s death, meaning she was now Queen.

A year and four months later, on June 2, 1953, her Coronation took place at Westminster Abbey.

The 89-year-old will hold a family meal at her Aberdeenshire home to mark the momentous occasion, palace sources have revealed.
