Homes left without gas in Wakefield

Families in Netherton have been without gas today as engineers try to find of the cause of the problem.

A drop-in centre has been set up as a result of the problem.

A spokesman for Northern Gas Networks said: "Engineers from Northern Gas Networks (NGN) are currently investigating reports of low gas pressure and no supply in Netherton, Wakefield.

"Engineers are on the ground establishing the cause and the number of properties that are affected and a community drop-in centre has been set up at Netherton Village Hall, Coxley Crescent, Netherton, Wakefield WF4 4SL where the NGN team are providing support and answering questions.

"Alternatively, customers can contact our Customer Care Team on 0800 040 7766 (option 3) who will be happy to help. We’ll also be providing updates on our website, Facebook and Twitter.

"Anyone who smells gas should call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999."
