The money is then reinvested to fund events and shows in the community.

Businesses are given a green sticker promoting the partnership to display in their windows.

And Heidi Waring, owner of Lace & Co Bridal Boutique on Queen Street, said the project has helped entice more shoppers to the village.

She said: “Horbury is a lovely town with a village vibe and the partnership has helped get people interested in coming and shopping in Horbury.

“The website is a great way to show people, both from Horbury and surrounding areas, what we are all about and we have seen more people coming to shop here.”

The partnership has helped pay for the refurbishment of the Addingford Steps and the painting of the traditional Victorian street signs in the town.

And Mrs Waring, who opened her business two years ago, said shoppers have helped the scheme thrive by supporting independent retailers.

She said: “People have gone back to their old fashioned values of shopping locally which is key for any community.
