Hospital ‘real travesty’

JUST when you think you have heard it all, the headlines on the front pages of the national papers inform us that the Pontefract Hospital managers have asked the army to come and run the A&E through the night.

First they build a hospital with no beds, then they don’t recruit any doctors to work in it, then they bully one they have into resigning and give them £4m as a going away present. You couldn’t make it up.

How on earth are these cowboys still in a job? In the real world they would be walking away with their P45s. Instead, they are hiding in their bunker calling for the army to come to the rescue.

It has been a real travesty what has happened with the PGI, but to be honest, most of us knew that it was going to end in tears.

A crime has been committed on the good folk of Pontefract and Castleford and I for one want someone to be accountable.

Someone has to be taken to account, be it the hospital trust for their failure to provide adequate health care provision, or the politicians for their neglect in allowing it to happen.

It has been like watching a car crash in slow motion. Whatever happens we want our pound of flesh, not apologies.
