Beauty student Natalie Hall is celebrating after scooping a silver medal at the UK’s biggest skills and careers show last month.
Miss Hall, 20, picked up the award in the advanced nail enhancements category at the WorldSkills finals held in Birmingham.
She said: “I was so happy to win the award. I couldn’t believe it to be honest.
“I competed for two-and-a-half hours and there were four judges who marked us on presentation, health and safety as well as the finished result.”
Miss Hall finished her diploma in nail technology at Wakefield College’s Castleford campus in September.
She qualified for the event after winning a regional heat in Derbyshire earlier this year.
She said: “I’ve only been doing nails for 14 months and I finished second in the whole country.
“It just goes to show that if you are committed and work hard then you’ll get rewards.”
Miss Hall is the third Wakefield College beauty student to win a medal a WorldSkills medal in just two years.
