Hospital trust interim chief executive Stephen Eames became a patient himself when he had cataract surgery in Pontefract.
Mr Eames, who normally oversees the hard work and care carried out by healthcare teams at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, experienced the service himself when he had a cataract removed at Pontefract Hospital.
The operation was carried out by surgeon Atul Varma, with support from the rest of the team at the clinic.
Mr Eames said: “I was thoroughly impressed with the care, experience and treatment I received.
“From my arrival at the unit through to my discharge, I received professional, compassionate and caring treatment, and felt in safe hands throughout.
“It is heartening to be able to vouch first-hand for the high quality of our services, not just from the perspective of the treatment we provide, but of the equally important reassurance, care and human touch our patients need when using our services.”
