Karate kid Abigail Bregman proved she was one to watch when she won a national competition at the age of just nine.
Abigail beat off rivals from across the country to win the Northern Open Classic held in Leigh last month.
The North Featherstone Junior and Infant School pupil, who achieved her black belt when she was eight, won the kata category which involves a set pattern of moves which must be performed with speed and accuracy.
Ty Harrison, Abigail’s instructor, said: “It takes hours of practice to perfect the moves.
“I believe she has what it takes to represent her country when she gets older.”
